Rockets Strike Near Diplomatic District In Kabul, Ten Injured
Fourteen rockets were apparently fired from two vehicles in Kabul.
The Afghan Independence Day wasn’t a pleasant one for Kabul, as multiple rockets hit near its main diplomatic district on Tuesday morning. Afghan Interior Ministry spokesperson, Tareq Arian has claimed that fourteen rockets had hit the city of Kabul, and while no casualties were reported, ten people were reported to have been injured in the attack. Four children and one woman were among those injured. “Most of these rockets have hit civilian houses in Kabul,” Arian said.
Witnesses have said that rockets fell near the palace and the Defence Ministry in a heavily fortified area that also houses several embassies. The area was quickly placed under lockdown after the attack. It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the attack. Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid said he was not aware of the attack in Kabul. Afghanistan is in the middle of peace talks to end an almost 20-year long internal war with the Taliban. The United States is also in the process of withdrawing its troops from the country.
