Rishtey Mein Toh Hum Tumhare Review: Mahesh Thakur-Mishkat Varma Make Our Hearts Smile
“Tune kiya hai apna sach kuch fida, mujhe lagta hai shayad tu he hai khuda” – this line best sums up the essence of ZEE5 Original short film Rishtey Mein Toh Hum Tumhare. Released on the occasion of Father’s Day 2019, the drama celebrates the bond shared by a father and a child. Starring Mahesh Thakur and Mishkat Varma of Shaadi Ke Siyape, the movie revolves around a daddy who is about to take driving lessons from his son. The simple narrative of this seven-minute-long short drama captures the core of emotions shared between a father and son.
Mishkat plays a youth who complains about ice-cream flavour, but has three bowls of it anyway. Mahesh essays a typical Indian father who cannot help but fire burns when his son complains and doesn’t care to walk on his son who is begging his girlfriend for a ‘picture.’ Like any dad in the country is assumed to be, he bombards truckloads of questions about something his son has ‘planned’ and has everything but a positive feeling about it. Almost makes you go: been there, done that!
Halfway through, we see tables turn when Mr. Khurana takes charge behind the wheels. The son is anxious about his dad’s driving skills and thinks their end is near. Again, don’t we all question our father when he is speeding up or extremely down? Of course! Something similar happens here!
Mahesh Thakur shines like a true veteran actor bringing his years of experience on the screen so effortlessly. Mishkat Varma as a son takes a flight too. The simplicity of this story is the most beautiful aspect of it. So relatable and so endearing! Despite all the differences we share, a father is the reason we are where we are. His sacrifices have been the reason for the countless smiles on our face, he has been our very own secret Santa from day one! Through it all, never forget Rishtey Mein Toh Wo Hamare…BAAP lagte hain!
