An important day for Rajasthan’s political crisis lies ahead, as the Supreme Court is all set to begin its hearing of the Assembly Speaker’s petition today. This comes as a follow-up to an order issued by the Rajasthan High Court. The latter had ruled in favour of the Sachin Pilot camp by ordering maintenance of status quo with regards to the proceedings in the Rajasthan Assembly. The Supreme Court will hear the appeal of Speaker CP Joshi who has challenged the High Court’s decision.

Meanwhile, the political crisis in the state continues, as Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot has been nudged by Governor Kalraj Mishra who returned the CM’s proposal to convene the assembly session from July 31 onwards. The Gehlot-led Congress government says it is confident about its numbers and that a floor test is the only way to end the ongoing political crisis in the state of Rajasthan, which started after the exit of Sachin Pilot and 18 other MLAs from the Congress party.
