Rajasthan Political Crisis: CM Gehlot Shows Off MLA Support To Sachin Pilot
Chief Minister supporters told they have more than 100 MLAs on their side and Ashok Gehlot showcased the support as a masterstroke on Pilot.
As Sachin Pilot questioned Ashok Gehlot’s claims of having the support of 102 Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs), the latter let some media cameras inside his residence to show the strength of the MLAs. The visuals showed Ashok Gehlot, KC Venugopal, Ajay Maken, Randeep Surjewala and others sitting in a compound with other MLAs. As the cameras were called in, all of them waved the victory sign. Speaking to a leading news portal, Sachin said, “Ashok Gehlot’s claim to have the support of 102 MLAs is wrong. 25 MLAs are sitting with me. We are not going to attend the legislative party meeting in Jaipur.”
His reaction comes soon after Congress said it has invited him for discussions to end the unfolding political crisis in the state. Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, on Monday (July 13), said, “The doors of the Congress were, are and will be open for Sachin Pilot to come and hold discussions.” Now, the Rajasthan CM has claimed the support of 109 MLAs, with 104 being present and five letters to support.
