President Donald Trump To Demand Reimposition Of UN Sanctions Against Iran
The move follows the United States’ failure to extend an arms embargo against Tehran.
The conflict between the United States and Iran is all set to intensify, even as President Donald Trump is all set to demand a reimposition of United Nations (UN) sanctions against Iran on Thursday. “It’s a snapback,” said the President at a news conference on Wednesday, adding that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will travel to New York to present the country’s demand to the UN. The bone of contention is, of course, Iran’s significant non-compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal.
President Donald Trump also added, “Iran will never have a nuclear weapon.” The proxy war in major Middle Eastern regions has also been brought into focus. US Ambassador Kelly Craft, has said, “Iran’s support for its proxies in Syria only helps to bolster the Assad regime and undermine the UN process. How will giving Iran access to more weapons serve the interests of international peace and security?”
