The PM’s mother lit a lamp and watched the Bhumi Pujan ceremony from her residence in Gujarat
Devotees of Lord Rama from India and across the world watched the live telecast of the stone laying (bhumi pujan) ceremony of the iconic Ayodhya Ram Temple yesterday, on August 5.
Also, a part of this celebration was Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Hiraben, who enjoyed the broadcast from her residence in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. She sat with folded hands as she saw her son perform the Bhumi Pujan rituals in Ayodhya.
To mark this auspicious occasion, Hiraben lit a lamp and decorated her home with a traditional Rangoli, with ‘Ram’ written as a part of the design.
The historic event marks the beginning of the construction of the Ram Temple.
In his address yesterday, the prime minister expressed gratitude to all the citizens of India and devotees of the Lord from all over the world. He said a grand temple will now be built for Ram Lalla, who had been living in a tent.
A plaque of the temple and a commemorative postage stamp on ‘Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir’ was unveiled by Modi, as a part of the main function.
