Lakshmy, who is known for boldly portraying unique characters, is quite popular on the small screen. But the director-actor Lakshmy has done some fantastic mom roles in the silver screen. Lakshmy, who is a mother of three in real life, excelled in the mom’s role in Ammani; She managed to make us empathize with her character in the film. The actress has strong mother characters in all her directorial projects too. When Lakshmy comes on screen, she manages to bring tears to your eyes with her emotional performances. Saranya Ponvannan is a terrific actress; She can pull off any role, that’s given to her, effortlessly. Her performance never feels like acting, as it is so natural that she manages to make us laugh and cry every time she appears on the screen. Even today, if we catch one of her comedy scenes from Bharath starrer, Em Magan, it cracks us up. We don’t think that we have to even mention about how she left a mark in all our minds with her brilliant role in Velaiyilla Pattathari.
Though she was only in the first half, she managed to leave an impression and made us feel her presence in the Dhanush starrer. Also, her onscreen mom’s comic sense in Kolamavu Kokila is commendable. Saranya, who made her debut in the South film industry with Nayagan alongside Kamal Haasan, returned to the silver screens after an 8-year sabbatical. Nothing has changed, she is still as impressive as she was. You can watch her film Kolamavu Kokila, where Saranya plays mother to Nayanthara, on ZEE5 and you will know what we are talking about.
Ramya Krishnan, who stole millions of hearts in the ’90s as the leading lady, has surely established herself as one of the leading actresses in the South film industry. She has definitely done quite some interesting characters over the years. Her role as Maggi ( a call girl) in Kamal Haasan’s Panchathanthiram and Neelambari (rich antagonist) in superstar Rajinikanth’s Padayappa was commendable. We still remember her dialogues and the style she carried in both these films
While there are several Ramya’s on-screen stunning performances as a mother, one of India’s favourite has to be her role in Baahubali as Sivagami (where she played the fierce queen and a loving and caring mother to Prabhas). In Silambarasan’s Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven too, Ramya shines brightly. She played her role with sheer elegance and grace. Watch Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven on ZEE5.
Meera Krishnan, who has appeared in films and television serials, is one of the most popular actresses. The actress, who only did mother roles in her movies, started her career as an announcer in Doordarshan. Before her acting stint, she was a newsreader on a popular channel. Meera, who has portrayed mom roles in several hit films, has won over the Tollywood audience with her brilliant performances and strong screen presence. She is often seen as a soft and friendly mother. Her role in Mannar Vagaiyara too makes us want a friendly mother like her in our lives. Watch her performance in Mannar Vagaiyara on ZEE5.
