Underlining the rise in the drug trafficking cases, the actor-politician alleged that Pakistan and China Tsmuggled drugs to destroy India’s youth.
Days after the arrest of actor Rhea Chakraborty over alleged drug use in connection with the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, came BJP MP Ravi Kishan’s remark. On Sunday (September 13), the anti-drugs agency Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) nabbed six more persons, taking the total count of people held so far to 16. The six accused have been identified as Karamjeet Singh Anand, Dwayne Fernandes, Sanket Patel, Ankush Anreja, Sandeep Gupta and Aftab Fateh Ansari, he said, adding that they were picked up after their names emerged during investigation.
They were all booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, an NCB official said. Lauding the NCB’s crackdown on the drug cartel linked to Bollywood, BJP MP Ravi Kishan urged the Centre to take strict action against the culprits. The Gorakhpur lawmaker raised the issue of drug trafficking in the Hindi film industry during the first day of the Monsoon session of Parliament on Monday (September 14). “Drug addiction is in the film industry too. Several people have been apprehended and the NCB is doing very good work.”
