A Life Story That Has Never Been Told Before


You may have heard and read about the great works, carried out by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, but you probably don’t know about his personal journey. And TV proudly presents ‘Ek Mahanayak Dr. B. R. Ambedkar,‘ which will give us a sneak peek into his childhood, when he faced discrimination and struggle with regards to his right to education. Watch the teaser of the show below:

Neha Joshi as Bhimabai Sakpal


Neha is a Marathi actress who has worked in popular movies like Zenda and Poshter Boyz. While talking about her role to a leading daily, she said, “Essaying a mother’s character to such a big personality, is nothing less than an amazing opportunity. It’s the main reason that sealed my decision. I have always been experimental at heart and never felt the typecast pressure on me.”

Saud Mansuri as Balaram


Bhimrao aka Babasaheb was the youngest among his siblings. He was the 14th child of Ramji and Bhimabai, out of which only five survived. Saud Mansuri is a child actor, who will be seen playing the role of Babasaheb’s elder brother, Balaram.

Arthur Khan as Anandrao


Child actor Arthur Khan will be seen portraying the role of Anandrao. 

Vanshika Yadav as Manjula


Vanshika Yadav is a child artist, who will play Manjula, the elder sister of Bhimrao.

Babasaheb’s Paternal Aunt Mira


Babasaheb’s mother died at an early age. His paternal aunt, despite having a disabling hunchback, took care of all the five children.

Aayudh Bhanushali as Young Bhimrao


Child actor Aayudh Bhanushali, who has  worked for a lot of television commercials, will now be seen playing the character of young Ambedkar.

Prasad Jawade as Adult Babasaheb Ambedkar


You may have noticed that most of these characters have one thing in common- ll of them,  at some point in their career, have worked in Marathi films. Because the show is set in the ’80s, it is important for actors to get the traditional  Marathi dialect right, to make the show look more authentic. . The lead role of adult Babasaheb will be played by Marathi actor Prasad Jawade. Prasad has worked in several Marathi films and he rose to fame with Zee Marathi’s talent hunt show, ‘Maharashtrache Superstar’.

The socio-drama will replace the current AndTv show, Meri Hanikarak Biwi. It will premiere on the channel  at 8.30 pm and you can watch it anytime on ZEE5.

Jagannath Nivangune as Ramji Maloji Sakpal


Jagannath Nivangune is a Marathi film and theatre actor and has worked in Marathi films like ‘Lalbaugchi Rani’ and ‘Ulaadhal.’ While talking about his role he told a leading publishing site “I play Ambedkar”s father. I have been working in Marathi theatre and Marathi serials for long. This is my first Hindi serial.”
