1. Not a Bengali

In the ZEE5 Original series Krishanu Krishanu, which is based on the legendary late footballer and ex-India captain Krishanu Dey, actor Anurag Urham plays the role of Krishanu. Here are a few things about the actor which we are sure you had no idea about. Watch the series here:

Although Urham does depict a character who is a Bengali, the actor himself is from Madhya Pradesh and could not speak Bengali. He had to learn the language in order to deliver the dialogues so that is portrayal would be more authentic.


2. Not a sportsperson

Urham was never big in sports, he liked acting. But to act, he had to learn several skills that form the core of his character. He started training under the guidance of Kunal Das at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium.


3. An FTII graduate

Trained under some of the stalwarts in the industry, such as Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Rajkumar Rao and Manoj Bajpai, Urham started off with some off-beat roles playing characters of a cobbler and an addict.

4. He went that extra mile

Urham is a hardworking artiste and it was proven when he took the effort to understand the history of his character. He met up with Krishanu’s family who were taken aback by the uncanny resemblance the actor had with the former Mohun Bagan player.
