Legendary choregrapher Saroj Khan dies of cardiac arrest at Guru Nanak Hospital in Mumbai at the age of 71.
Bollywood has experienced another loss in form of veteran choreographer Saroj Khan. The talented dance choreographer had worked with nearly all the renowned actors in the industry. Her contribution towards the craft is unrivalled. On June 20, the veteran choreographer was admitted to Guru Nanak Hospital in Mumbai after feeling breathlessness. Her COVID-19 tests were found to be negative. Saroj Khan died after suffering a cardiac arrest at a hospital in Mumbai on Friday, July 3. She was 71 years old. The news of her death was confirmed by her daughter.
The legendary choreographer had a 40-year long career in Bollywood and other entertainment industries. She started out as a child artist, and during her long and glorious career, Saroj Khan had choreographed routines to more than two thousand songs. She has won 3 National Awards for Best Choreography for her work in the films, Jab We Met, Devdas and Sringaram. She also won 8 Filmfare awards, IIFA and Zee Cine Awards. Saroj Khan was the first recipient of the Filmfare Award in her category. In fact, Filmfare instituted the category of Best Choreography after seeing the audience´s response to the song Ek Do Teen in Tezaab. Saroj Khan’s death is definitely a big loss to the Bollywood industry.
