Maam (Tiyasha Roy), who Nikhil has just married, gets poisoned during her bhaat kapor ceremony at the Choudhury household. Ashok and Disha are behind this act, and had ensured that Shraboni, their employee, did all the dirty work. Shraboni had told them that the poison would be strong enough to kill her almost instantly, and yet, Maam had gone through quite a few spoonfuls of the poisoned payesh before it had any effect. This worries the malicious couple, who want her dead as soon as possible.
While the entire family is now panicking about Maam, who is fighting for her life at the hospital, Disha tries to convince Nikhil’s mother not to let Maam stay with them anymore on the pretext that it would inconvenience everybody in the house. Disha gives her own pregnancy as one of the reasons that they cannot afford anymore unnecessary drama.
Disha also threatens Shraboni not to get caught by the police. She says that if they are caught, it will be Shraboni and no one else who will pay the price. Meanwhile, Ashok is with Nikhil at the hospital while Maam is under treatment. He tells Nikhil that Maam’s family blames the Choudhury family for putting their daughter’s life in danger. Nikhil is deeply worried and contemplates divorcing Maam, just so she can start her life anew without being caught up in their morbid affairs. He also admits to Ashok that he had married Maam primarily so they could get to the bottom of Shyama’s death together.
At the same time, a policeman visits the Choudhury house to inquire about Maam’s case, as the discovery of poison in her system has made it a criminal case. Shraboni is there at the time, and is specifically told by the cop not to go out of town without informing the police as she is also involved with their investigation.
Disha is relieved that the police don’t suspect her and Ashok, and the family receives the news that Maam is alive and out of danger. However, nobody is allowed to go near her as of yet because she is weak and the fear of catching the Coronavirus lingers. Maam’s father is furious with the Choudhurys for not being able to keep her safe even after welcoming her into the family as a bride, and Nikhil apologises profusely.
When Maam wakes up, she assures her parents that she is completely fine, and is of the opinion they should not have blamed Nikhil for what happened to her. However, when Nikhil tells her that he thinks it is best that they get divorced and live separately for her own sake, she is shattered. Maam is hurt that Nikhil took this decision without consulting her, and reminds him about their mission of tracking down Shyama’s murderer together.
However, Nikhil cannot bring himself to put Maam’s life in any more jeopardy, and begs for forgiveness from both his and Maam’s families for all the trouble he has brought upon them. Maam’s mother is also angry with him, but she thanks him for at least letting her daughter come back home with them.
Maam reminds Nikhil that being far away from him won’t guarantee her safety– something that is anyway threatened by the fact she resembles Shyama so strikingly. This does not change Nikhil’s mind about the divorce, however. Later that day, even Nikhil’s father tells him that the Choudhury family is done with Maam.
