Following the extension of the lockdown in the country, Zee Marathi is all set to bring back its iconic shows on TV as people continue to stay at home. The channel has decided to rerun popular shows like Honar Sun Mi Hya Gharchi, Jai Malhar, etc., for the wholesome entertainment of the family. As we gear up to watch these shows on TV, there are some other shows which we would like to see back on television. Many of these are cult favourites and fondly remembered by fans to this day. According to us, here’s a list of the shows that certainly deserve a rerun on TV. We start the list with Abhalmaya.

The show was aired in the early 2000s and was way ahead of its time as it shed light on women empowerment. Abhalmaya was highly appreciated for its progressive content and told the story of Sudha, who finds out that her husband is having an affair. It is the story of several sacrifices that Sudha has to make in her life. The show starred Sukanya Mone, Sanjay Mone, Harshada Kanvilkar, and others in lead roles. Viewers still feel an emotional connection with the show years after it ended its run.

2. Shriyut Gangadhar Tipre

Shriyut Gangadhar Tipre was a slice-of-life sitcom based on the aspirations of a typical middle-class Maharashtrian family. It portrayed the peculiar traits of every member, that viewers could relate to. The show was penned by veteran actor Dilip Prabhavalkar who was also seen as Aaba. He became one of the most loved characters on TV. Apart from Dilip, Shubhangi Gokhale and Rajan Bhise played other important roles in this iconic show. 3. Eka Lagnachi Dusri Goshta

Eka Lagnachi Dusri Goshta is the tale of a couple who strive to make their relationship work after they are forced to get married. Despite running for a relatively short time, the show achieved massive success. It featured Mukta Barve and Swwapnil Joshi who never fail to thrill us with their chemistry, as evident in Mumbai Pune Mumbai. Let’s not forget the performances of theatre actors like Vinay Apte, Mohan Joshi, Satish Tare, Spruha Joshi, Ila Bhate, and Hrishikesh Joshi. 4. Kahe Diya Pardes

This TV serial showcased an unconventional love story of a Maharashtrian girl named Gauri and a north Indian guy named Shiv. It outlines the journey of these two characters who defy all odds to be together. They struggle hard to convince their families who are against their inter-cultural marriage. The main highlight of the show was Sayali Sanjeev and Rishi Saxena’s sparkling chemistry which became the talk of the town. Watch the story of Shiv and Gauri unfold here.

5. Uncha Mazha Zoka

Uncha Mazha Zhoka was a dramatic representation of the life of Ramabai Ranade who went on to become a prominent social activist. Ramabai was amongst the very first women’s rights advocates during the British Raj in India. The story of the show begins with her childhood, moves on to her marriage with Justice Ranade, and then finally proceeds to her journey to become a social activist. Spruha Joshi stole many hearts for her role as the older Ramabai. We hope to see her back on screen and wish that this show is retelecasted soon!

6. Vadalvaat

Vadalvaat was one of most loved shows that aired on Zee Marathi featuring some of the top guns of the industry like Subodh Bhave, Chinmay Mandlekar, Prasad Oak, and Umesh Kamat. The story of the show revolved around the Chaudhary family who run a daily newspaper named Nirbhid. There are interesting twists and turns to the story which makes it worth a rewatch.
