Whether it’s Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru or Kolkata, each of the top metropolises in India has a dark side, that almost never meets the public eye. Providing a tunnel vision into the underbelly of the capital city of West Bengal, here are some ZEE5 Originals that reveal the truth about various crimes taking place. Right from peddling drugs, to abducting children, the underworld spares no one. Kaali 2 is a representation of such events. Let’s take a look at some more of such cases.

1. Kaali Season 2

Being the light of her child’s life, Kaali fights the dark shadows of the underworld, full of gangsters as well as the police. In the first season, her life takes a drastic turn by the events of her son, Sunny’s accident and her husband being involved in a murder case. This time around, she falls prey to drug peddlers and agrees to smuggle them to save her wheelchair-bound son. Swapan, a gangster threatens to kill Sunny if she fails to follow his orders.

2. Kark Rogue

Revolving around a medical drug racket, the web series Kark Rogue dares to say that all doctors are not life saviours. While Dr Omprakash Chawla and Dr Nivedita Roy Chowdhury carry out a drug trial on blood-cancer patients, knowing that it is illegal and fatal, Dr Beas Banerjee tries to investigate the black sheep in white aprons. She busts the entire scam that had caused numerous murders and saves the life of Police Inspector Barun Sarkar’s daughter.

3. Judgement Day

Rapists are everywhere, not only in Kolkata. But, the bilingual web series Judgement Day reveals how demonic can a mind get. Diya is a law student in Kolkata. Her younger sister, Hiya comes to meet her from Jalpaiguri. On the first day of her visit, she gets brutally raped by a gang of young boys who pretend to be their best friends. When Diya goes to file an F.I.R., even the police pass sleazy comments and behave inappropriately. Hiya falls prey to the corrupt system of court and law.

4. It Happened In Calcutta

Being a romantic love saga set in the 1960s and 70s, It Happened In Calcutta touches upon the Naxalbari outbreak that occurred during the Indo-Pak war of 1971. While Kusum sets off to serve as an army doctor, she is taken captive by the Naxalites as a Prisoner of War (PoW) by the Naxalites. They even break into Ratan’s house and threaten to shoot him if doesn’t tend to their wounds even as a non-communist.
