Popularly known as Jayaram, this brilliant actor is also chende percussionist, mimicry artist and has even done playback singing. In fact, Jayaram began his career as a mimicry artist before debuting in Malayalam film, Aparan. His foray into Tamil industry began with movies like Gokulam, Purushalakshanam and Kolangal. He’s enjoyed a long and successful pairing with Kamal Haasan in both Malayalam and Tamil films which included some of his most famous movies in Tamil – Panchathanthiram and Thenali, where he plays Dr Kailash while Kamal plays the neurotic hypochondriac, Thenali. His most recent pairing with Kamal was in Uttama Villain. Check out two recent movies starring Jayaram that you can watch on his birthday.

Uttama Villain

Uttama Villain is the story of a dying movie star whose children, both legitimate and illegitimate hate him. When he is diagnosed with brain cancer, he sets out to make a final film. This is essentially a film within a film and Jayaram beautifully plays the role of Jacob Zachariah, the foster father of Manoranjan’s illegitimate child.
