Iraqi Farmers Benefit As Government Bans Imports Due To Coronavirus Pandemic
Local farmers in Iraq get an opportunity to sell their products after the government imposed restrictions on supply of fruits and vegetables from neighbouring nations.
The Coronavirus pandemic has adversely affected several nations in the world. The latest news reports come from Iraq where as many as 38.4 million people have been infected by COVID-19 virus. Iraq is still fighting with Coronavirus pandemic and thousands of people are losing their lives every day. Iraq’s farmers have benefitted due to this measure taken by the government in order to curb the spread of the virus. Iraqi farmers and the Iraqi Agriculture Department are driving a self-sustenance campaign for the country. The local farmers don’t have to face competition from the foreign suppliers which is eventually resulting in the growth of their business.
To boost the country’s economy, the government had imposed a ban on imports of fruits and vegetables. It also imposed restrictions at the border crossing leading to stagnancy in the supply of goods.
