IPL 2020’s Final Schedule Expected To Be Announced On This Date
A meeting will be held on August 2 with top BCCI officials to decide the schedule and other details of the upcoming IPL 13.
After the announcement of the 13th season of the Indian Premier league (IPL), a detailed schedule is expected to be released post the IPL governing council meeting, likely to take place this Sunday, on August 2. The meeting will see IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel and top officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), including President Saurav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah in attendance. Both Ganguly and Shah have completed their tenure but have appealed to the High Court for an extension. Their hearing is scheduled for August 17.
Star India, the official broadcaster of the IPL, apparently had some reservations about the schedule released by the BCCI. The channel was keen for a Diwali week date for the finals.
There may also be more than two matches a day, for the benefit of the channel and the sponsors.
Mubasher Usmani, General Secretary of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) said he already has an official confirmation from the Indian Cricket Board and awaits the Indian Government’s final decision.
The IPL has been been shifted out of the country to UAE this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The matches will take place amidst high safety standards and precautions.
