IPL 2020: Will Families Of Players Be Allowed Into UAE?
Two months of staying away from loved ones could be hard for players.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to commence in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this September, and as the BCCI prepares to chalk out its COVID-related guidelines for the franchises to follow, a major question that stands ahead of them is whether to allow the families of players to attend the tournament or not. Usually, the wives, girlfriends and children of players are allowed to stay with the players during specified times, but in these unprecedented times, it will be risky to do that.
The IPL is scheduled to commence in the UAE on September 19, and end on November 8. Regarding the question of the families of players, an official said, “Look every franchise won’t be able to match up to say Mumbai Indians, who will undoubtedly have the best set-up in these trying times. They have private jets, can even take doctors from their super speciality hospital and rent out a five-star hotel. Others need to check out what’s best for them. Maybe a beach resort.”
