Indore Adjudged India’s Cleanest City Fourth Year In A Row
Gujarat’s Surat and Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai grab second and third places.
Swachh Survekshan 2020 has found Indore to be the cleanest city in India for the fourth time in a row. The Madhya Pradesh city has been winning the honour for the last three years, while Mysuru was adjudged to be the cleanest city in 2016 when the inaugural Swachh Survekshan was held. Following the news, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “Congratulations to the people of Indore for achieving the first position in being India’s cleanest city in Swachh Survekshan 2020. The city has hit a four this time and surely will hit a six in the coming future.”
The city of Surat in Gujarat came in second in Swachh Survekshan 2020, while Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai bagged the third position. The results were announced by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri at a ceremony. A total of 1.9 crore citizens across 4,242 cities of the country had participated in this survey held by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
