Indio-China Brigadier Level Talks May Continue Today
With no conclusion yet on China’s disengagement from the Indian side, a third round of brigadier level talks is expected today
Amidst growing Indo-Chinese tensions, brigadier level talks may continue today in Chushul in Ladakh district, to resolve issues between the two countries. Though the dialogue over the last two days were reported to be inconclusive, the same is being continued for another round in the hope that the Chinese will disengage from the Indian side of the border.
After the Indian Army noticed some provocative military movement by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) on the 29 and 30 August, Operation Black Top was conducted, where the southern bank of the Pangong Lake was claimed by India. Thwarting China’s expansion interests, several hills have been taken over by Indian troopers in the disputed region along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
The army also noticed some Chinese movement on the night of 31 August, prompting the Indian side to continue their efforts of protecting what is rightfully ours. Patrolling Points (PP) 27 to 31, covering the Gurung Hill right from the south bank of Pangong to Rezang La region, have all been captured by India, according to defence sources.
Ironically, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi had recently claimed that his country only wants to promote peace and not war, adding that they have never transgressed into even an inch of another nation’s land.
