If You Have A Sweet Tooth Like Karthick Vasu, Know How To Make Gulab Jamun At Home
Some people are diet conscious, and some live only to eat. Again, some have a weakness for sweets, while some are fond of spicy food preparations. Our very own Shiva of Poove Poochoodava is a foodie in real life. He loves to gorge on non-vegetarian recipes, but he also has a sweet-tooth, and he isn’t guilty of piling on extra calories. In one of Karthik Vasu’s throwback Instagram posts, he shared a pic holding a bowl full of sweets. Hence, we thought of sharing a sweet recipe with you, so that you can try it out at home, for your indulgence.

- Milk powder 1 cup (make sure it’s NOT skimmed milk powder)
- Maida 1 tablespoon
- Baking Soda 1/4 teaspoon
- Green Cardamom Powder 1/2 teaspoon
- Ghee 4 teaspoons
- Oil or ghee for frying
- Sugar 1 cup
- Water 1 1/2 cup
– Mix milk powder, maida, baking soda, green cardamon powder, ghee and a little bit of water to make a tight dough.
Divide small dumplings of the dough after diving into equal portions.
– Meanwhile, in a pan, put 1 cup of sugar and one-and-a-half cup of water to make the sugar syrup. Add a teaspoon of lemon to purify the sugar syrup. Remove the layer of foam on the surface, if you find any.
– In another pan heat some oil or ghee for deep frying the dumplings. Once the oil is hot enough for frying, put the dumplings one by one. However, keep the gas on low flame because the jamuns have to cook well. Fry until they turn golden brown.
– Transfer the sugar syrup into a bowl and add the fried jamuns one by one. Let it get soaked for a while. Your Gulab Jamuns are ready. You can serve hot or cold depending on your choice.
