Haryana Farmers Block National Highway-09 To Protest Against Farm Bills
The local farmers claim that they will continue these protests until their demands are met and the bills are withdrawn.
Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 were recently passed by Rajya Sabha. The bills have been creating havoc in several states of India. According to the latest news updates, farmers of Haryana have taken down the highways and are protesting in huge numbers. The protestors have blocked National Highway-09 and it is also reported that farmers in Jind and Ambala are also carrying out ‘road roko’ protests.
Some major farmer unions across Punjab and Haryana have anticipated these protests. Further, the local farmers even claimed that they will continue these protests until their demands are met and the bills are withdrawn. Farmers are of an opinion that these bills will exploit them and will take away some crucial rights from them.
