Gujarat’s Jamnagar Experiences Serious Floods Following Heavy Rainfall
Around 350 people from the district have been evacuated to safety.
Incessant rains have been furiously lashing in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat, and Jamnagar is the worst-hit district of them all. Heavy rains wreaked havoc in many areas where floods have developed due to the overflowing of multiple dams. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) along with the district administration has evacuated and shifted 350 people to safer places. The Jamnagar district administration through a statement revealed the NDRF team’s rescue operation in Badanpar and Jodiya villages.
In the village of Dhragda, five people were rescued from flooded waters, while one person was reported missing after drowning in the risen waters of the Nani Vavdi village, Kalavad district. Cars and bikes are seen being swept off by the floodwaters, while long-distance trucks remain grounded. People walking on the streets, attempting to rescue others, have to deal with chest-high waters caused by the unrelenting rainfall that the state of Gujarat has witnessed over the past few days.
