The Telugu film industry is thriving with larger-than-life dramas, mega action films and never-seen-before concepts. While we are excited about new shows and films will keep coming, we always find comfort in the good ol’ things. Is it nostalgia or is it just a thought that things were better then? Well, whatever it may be, this time we’ve got all the reasons to celebrate.

Amrutham was first broadcast in 2001 and was taken off-air six years later. During this time, the show cumulated 300 episodes and has been divided into many segments or seasons. Given its high TRP, the show connected extremely well with Telugu audiences and continues to be in-demand. Finally, the wait will be over in a few days.

The story revolves around the titular character, who is also known as Icchapurapu Ksheera Sagara Panchamrutha Rao aka Amrutham. He owns a restaurant named Amrutha Vilas and puts his heart and soul in making the business bigger and better. But his Aamudaala Anjaneyulu aka Anji, who happens to be Amrutham’s chef, neighbour and family friend, makes it difficult and impossible.

They try and try, but do not succeed. From changing the restaurant’s name to applying every trick to be rich, Amrutham’s story is sad but hilarious. Leading the show in the initial episodes, as Amrutham, is the legendary actor Shivaji Raja. Gundu Hanumanthu Rao plays the naïve but notorious Anji. Actor-anchor Jhansi portrays Amrutham’s wife.

Apart from them, many noted actors and directors of the current times found their breakthrough with Amrutham. Rewatch the show to rekindle the memories of the best Telugu sit-com of all times. Or watch it to know what the hype is all about and why the demand and love for this show have not faded out. Stay tuned for the drama, madness and comedy. Amrutham will be available on ZEE5 for streaming from 6 December 2019.
