Ingredients to make the dal:

  • 1/4 cup green moong dal
  • 1/4 cup black urad dal
  • 1/4 cup chana dal
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 1 finely chopped ginger
  • 1 green chilli
  • 3 finely chopped garlic cloves
  • 1 finely chopped tomato
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • chopped coriander

Ingredients to make baati and churma

  • 2 cups of whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup sooji (rava)
  • 1/2 cup of ghee
  • 1 teaspoon ajwain (carom seeds)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1/4 cup jaggery

Step by step procedure:

  1. To make baati, mix all the ingredients mentioned above, except jaggery. Add jaggery once the ingredients are mixed well. Add water to make a smooth dough.
  2. Leave the dough aside to rest for around 20 minutes. After that, knead it once again for a couple of minutes and make small balls out of it.
  3. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and bake the baatis for about 20 to 30 minutes approximately.
  4. Once the baatis turn golden brown in colour, take them out of the oven.
  5. For the churma, use the same baked baati balls. Crush a few of them and grind them with jaggery in a mixer. And that’s it, your churma is ready in no time!
  6. To make the dal, add all the ingredients mentioned above into a pressure cooker.
  7. Add 2 cups of water and cook the dal for up to three whistles. Your dal is done. Check the salt and spices if suitable for your taste.

Plate it gracefully like Shweta and serve it hot to all your loved ones. They are going to love this, trust us!
