S Jaishankar represented India in a meet of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation, where the COVID-19 pandemic and the global economy were discussed.
The foreign ministers of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation (SCO) met to discuss the ever-increasing numbers of those affected by COVID-19. The member nations of SCO include China, India, Pakistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. This meeting took place via video conference wherein participants from different countries recommended possible solutions to fight against the virus. External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, represented India in this meet to discuss global challenges and solutions to eradicate the pandemic
The members of SCO also discussed uplifting the global economy, which has been adversely affected due to the lockdown. A huge amount of data was also shared by the member nations to highlight the conditions in their respective nations. This data will prove to be very helpful for research purposes and speed up vaccine research for this fatal virus. Many other important issues were thoroughly discussed by the member nations.
