Encounter Breaks Out In Jammu And Kashmir’s Pulwama

Security forces had cordoned off the area and launched search operation.

An encounter broke out in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district early morning on Tuesday. According to the Kashmir Zone Police, the encounter took place in the Marwal area of Pulwama. The encounter had started after security forces had launched a cordon and search operation there, according to a police official. They also mentioned that during the search operation, militants had fired on the forces, who retaliated, leading to an encounter.

In another part of Jammu and Kashmir, a separate operation took place, in which the police arrested two militant associates of the Al-Badr outfit in south Awantipora. The police said, “Acting on specific information, the Awantipora police and security forces held the two militant associates at Ladhoo crossing when the duo was travelling on a two-wheeler from Shopian to Khrew.” They have been identified as Rayees-ul-Hassan and Mushtaq Ahmad Mir. A vehicle and Rs 6 lakh in Indian currency has been recovered from them.
