Donald Trump Pledges To Dip Into Own Pocket For Campaign Funding
Statement comes amid reports of US President’s campaign struggling for funds.
US President Donald Trump who is all set to fight the next Presidential election against Democratic Party Nominee Joe Biden has pledged to spend “whatever it takes” of his own money to win a second term. This statement comes amid concerns about the financial health of his campaign. A report had stated that Trump and the Republican Party have already spent $800 million from the $1.1 billion raised from the start of 2019 to July 2020.
This is not something new for Trump, as it has already been disclosed that he had spent $66 million of his own funds to win the 2016 US Presidential Election. However, it would be unprecedented if he indeed uses his own money to win a second term. The US President has sought advice on whether he should fund his own campaign that has not yet managed to put him ahead of Biden in polls. Also, Biden’s campaign and other Democratic entities have raised more funds than Trump and his Republican allies.
