COVID-19: Israel Team Lands In India For Developing Rapid Testing Kits
A rapid testing kit could give the test result in just 30 seconds.
A high-level team of researchers from Israel has landed in Delhi to continue further the work they have been doing in tandem with Indian researchers regarding the development of a rapid COVID-19 testing kit, which can give results in just 30 seconds. Such a development could be a “game changer” in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic, said Israel Ambassador to India, Ron Malka. The special flight, which arrived this morning, also brought several emerging Israeli technologies for combating COVID-19.
Following the worldwide outbreak of the coronavirus, Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu and Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi have had three telephonic conversations in which they promised mutual assistance in dealing with the virus. “We also brought on this flight advanced respirators that are banned for export in Israel but a waiver was given to bring them to India,” said Malka. India’s Chief Scientific Advisor, K Vijay Raghavan and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) are working with Israeli researchers to develop the kits.
