Covid 19: India Inches Towards 5.5 Lakh Mark As 19,459 New Cases Reported In A Day

It’s been over three and a half months since India has been grappling to control the spread of Coronavirus across the country. On Monday morning, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare released data which stated that there had been 380 deaths and 19,459 new cases in the nation within the last 24 hours.

The positive cases in India now stand at 5,48,318, which includes 210,120 active cases, 3,21,723 cured/discharged/migrated patients and 16,475 deaths.

In India, Maharashtra has the highest number of cases, followed by Delhi, Tamil nadu, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, rRajasthan, Telangana, Haryana and Karnataka. In the wake of the increasing number of cases, Maharashtra has announced that the lockdown will continue till July 31. The state government stated, “Concerned District Collectors and Commissioners of the Municipal Corporations in the state may enforce certain measures and necessary restrictions in specified local areas on the permitted non-essential activities and movement of persons to control the pandemic.”
