COVID-19: Brazil President Bolsonaro’s Wife, Minister Test Positive
The country has seen 2.5 million infections and 90,000 deaths.
Just days after Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro recovered from COVID-19, his wife Michelle has now tested positive for the virus. Not just that; his Minister for Science and Technology, Marcos Pontes, has also revealed that he has tested positive for the coronavirus, making him the fifth minister from Bolsonaro’s Government to be diagnosed with the disease. The news paints a grim picture for the South American country, which has had more than 2.5 million infections to date, with over 90,000 deaths.
Brazil is currently at the second spot when it comes to the number of positive cases, with the US having occupied the top spot. News about the Brazilian first lady’s test was conveyed by the government through a statement, which went, “First lady Michelle Bolsonaro tested positive for COVID–19 on Thursday. She is in good health and will follow all established protocols.” Minister Pontes, on the other hand, made the announcement through Facebook. “I’m well, just a bit of flu symptoms and a headache,” he said.
