Closure On Babri Case Will Help Country Move On, Says Javed Ansari
The court has acquitted all accused in the demolition case.
Senior journalist Javed Ansari has expressed that the verdict on the Babri Masjid demolition case will provide closure and help the country move on. A special court has now delivered the verdict and has acquitted all accused in the case. The court has ruled that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has not been able to produce evidence to back up its charge that there was a conspiracy to demolish Babri Masjid. Some of the main accused in the case included former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani, former Union Ministers MM Joshi and Uma Bharti, and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh.
Ansari was speaking to a news channel about the Babri Masjid case when he said, “The Babri Masjid demolition, the assault in 1984 on the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s assassination, and of course Babri Masjid; these will go down, at least in my living memory, these are events which had a huge impact and changed the course, at least the political course, as far as the country is concerned. I do hope that now, 28 years after the cataclysmic events, there will be some kind of closure and as a country, we’ll be able to put this behind us and move one.”
