Chandrayaan-3 To Be Launched In Early 2021
Union Minister Jitendra Singh announced that India’s third lunar mission is expected to be launched in 2021 beginning
Chandrayaan-3 is likely to be launched in the beginning of 2021, according to an announcement made by Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Sunday. He also revealed that the Indian mission to the Moon will have no orbiter and will only include the lander and rover. According to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), the orbiter of the 2nd mission is working well.
While Chandrayaan-1 displayed some rusting of the moon along the poles, it also showed the presence of water on it. The second lunar exploration, Chandrayaan-2 had a hard landing on 7 September 2019, due to a software glitch as reported by the Indian space agency.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the efforts of the space scientists and the employees of ISRO on the first two attempts. If the country’s third attempt in making a soft landing on the lunar surface will be successful, it will become only the fourth nation to do so, after the former Soviet Union, United States of America and China.
