Bombay HC Stays Demolition Of Kangana Ranaut’s Mumbai Property
Actress had approached HC yesterday after being served notice by BMC.
The Bombay High Court has ordered a stay on the demolition of Kangana Ranaut’s Mumbai property, which was partly razed today by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The HC order has questioned why the BMC entered the property in the absence of the owner. The corporation had issued a notice for “illegal construction” at the actress’ Mumbai property, which she had challenged in the Bombay High Court on the same day.
Justice S J Kathawalla was hearing the petition filed by Ranaut challenging the BMC notice. In response, apart from questioning the fact that the civic body entered the property in the absence of the owner, the court also directed it to file an affidavit in response to the plea. The court will hear the matter again on Thursday. “We filed a petition this morning seeking an urgent hearing. We have sought a stay on the demolition process by way of interim relief,” Ranaut’s advocate Rizwan Siddiqui said.
