Yeh Mera Jahan

Born Ghantasala Srinivas Sai Thaman Siva Kumar, S. Thaman is the stage name that birthday boy adopted. While he started out as an actor, Thaman has a long history with music. Hailing from a musical family from Nellore, the composer has worked with S.P Balasubramium, Ilaiyaraja’s brother, Devi Sri Prasad and the likes for 14 years before venturing out as a solo composer.

Ravi Teja’s 2009 film, Kick was the first project that Thaman dealt with on his own. However, interesting, the first song that he composed – under the guidance of Manisharma – was for Pawan Kalyan’s Khushi. The song Yeh Mera Jahan was an instant hit with the youth and continues to be loved even today. Now, that’s how you know our birthday boy is called the musical maestro for a reason.

Mr Majnu

The title song Mr Majnu suits the actor, Akhil Akkineni, both on-screen and off-screen perfectly. Composer Thaman probably knew the craze that this 24-year old boy was set to stir sooner than the world did. And so, he crowned the actor with the perfect song – upbeat, classy, energetic and fun.

Best described as a lullaby, the number Peniviti, from Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava, is also created by the musical maestro Thaman S. Sung by Kaala Bhairava, the song is a homecoming call. Originally meant to be a call to sleep, it acts as the homecoming call to the hero, who stepped outside the boundaries and is nowhere to be seen.

Reddy Ikkada Soodu

Reddy Ikkada Soodu is that song from Jr NTR’s film will get you tapping your feet to its upbeat music every single time. The lyrics are fun and makes for the perfect party playlist. For the enthu cutlets out there, trying to match steps with the man himself is a great pass time too.

Reddamma thalli

If you had to capture the essence of Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava in a song, tune to Reddamma Thalli. Composed by Thaman and sung by Mahana Bhogaraju has given the song its grace and beauty while also packing in the essence of the land. We totally believe this song to be a landmark one, after all, it marks the composer’s 100th film.

Ninnila Ninnila

If a bag of skittles was turned into a song, it would probably sound like Thaman’s Ninnila from Tholi Prema, starring Varun Tej and Rashi Khanna. The song talks about the rush, the jazz and the whole world of your first love. Honestly, this song will take you back in time in a jiffy.

Chuda Sakagunnave

Chuda Sakagunnave, super gunnave, from Ram Pothineni and Rakul Preet Singh that is what exactly you must tell yourself as you let yourself loose on the dance floor. Don’t worry, if you’ve got worries, this song, sung by Thaman. S and M. M. Manasi will cure them away.

Time and time again, this composer has had something new to bring to the table. It was with Kandireega, starring Ram Pothineni and Hansika Motwani when we were treated to a song that marries two languages and many emotions – both, profound and quirky, in an interesting way.

Kajalu Chelliva

Kajalu Chelliva from Ravi Teja and Shruti Haasan’s Balupu is yet another song that will bring the local Rockstar out. Like the Mass Maharaja himself, Thaman makes us feel like there’s no better way to have fun than dancing to this song.

You can watch iSmart Shankar ft. Ram Pothineni on ZEE5.
