The Election Commission of India (EIC) has finally revealed the dates for this year’s Assembly Elections in the state of Bihar. The polls are all set to take place in three phases, the first of which will begin on October 28 and will be fought on 71 seats. The second phase of election will include 94 seats and will take place on November 3. The final phases will be fought on 78 seats and will take place on November 7. The EIC has said that results for the polls will be declared on November 10.

The number of phases for the Bihar Assembly elections has been reduced this year. This has been done keeping the COVID-19 situation in mind, as elections usually require the movement of security forces over long distances. The Model Code of Conduct has already come into effect in the state. Bihar will have 42,000 polling stations. Several safety measures have also been announced by the EIC keeping in mind the COVID-19 pandemic.
