Agra And Mathura On High Alert Due To Locust Attack During Pandemic

A high alert has been issued in the Agra and Mathura cities of Uttar Pradesh. To prevent further damage, the Municipal Council has started a drive to spray chemicals. The councils of Etawah and Firozabad have been instructed to stay on high alert. The locust swarms are suspected to travel to Agra from the Morena route in Madhya Pradesh, therefore the decision of high alert. The state of Uttar Pradesh is increasing its readiness for the locust attack and its plausible damage.

On Monday, May 25, huge swarms of locusts entered Rajasthan’s capital city Jaipur as the pests spread to wider parts of the state along with Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana. The locust attack is threatening standing crops, even as farmers continue to face the impact of the national lockdown that has been imposed to contain the spread of coronavirus. As if the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic wasn’t bad enough, nature is unleashing its fury in different ways.
