From being the most favorite show to bagging awards at the Zee Marathi Awards show, Agga Bai Sasubai has been trending ever since it has started. The serial, starring Nivedita Saraf (Asawari), Girish Oak (Abhijeet Rake) and Tejashri Pradhan (Shubhra) has seen many plot twists from the very beginning. Be it Asawari’s sacrifice for her son or Shubhra’s dedication and support for her mother-in-law, the show has portrayed women in a very different light.

Here are a few unique and unconventional ideas that the show has brought forth:

1. Shubhra as the supportive daughter-in-law

Shubhra is shown to be very supportive and pure-hearted towards her mother-in-law, which is a unique take for the saasu-sunn dynamic. They are both very informal with each other. Shubhra is even trying to bring back happiness in Asawari’s world by getting her married to Abhijeet. We give a thumbs up to this modern sunbai!

 2. Abhijeet owns a hotel and plays the role of a chef too

How often do we spot men cooking in serials, eh? Not only does Abhijeet cook food, but he also serves it and is skilled in multi cuisines! He can toss a pizza, chop cilantro and manage a business as well. 

3. Love can happen twice

Abhijeet and Asawari are both middle-aged and settled in their lives. Having gone through a tragic life, they are both struck by cupid when they meet. They are both stuck in their responsibilities, but their love for each other is shown as pure. 

4. Societal pressure v/s personal happiness

At every point in the show, Asawari’s happiness is killed by the societal pressure and the obligations towards her family. But as the show progresses, Asawari is shown choosing her own happiness every day, with the help of Shubhra’s support.

5. Shubhra and Abhijeet’s bond

Shubhra understands what is best for Asawari and she wants her to choose Abhijeet. But what has also been highlighted here is Shubhra’s bond with Abhijeet. She keeps in touch with him constantly and supports him in all his endeavors, so that he can win Asawari. Though Soham and Ajoba despise Abhijeet, Shubhra still fights for his stance.
