On April 29, 2020, India was shaken with the news of actor Irrfan Khan’s untimely demise. After a two-year-long battle with a rare type of cancer, the iconic actor lost his life to colon infection, in a Mumbai hospital. Before we could recover from the shock, the nation woke up to the news of another death. This time, it was legendary actor Rishi Kapoor, who succumbed to leukemia at the age of 67.

Much like Irrfan, Rishi Kapoor, too, was admitted to the hospital and never made it back. Their deaths have left a deep void in the hearts of many people, from the film fraternity and outside, too. Rishi Kapoor started his career with Raj Kapoor’s Mera Naam Joker in 1970, at the age of 18. With time, he appeared in the roles which defined flavour of the season and continued to embrace roles other than the leading man, as he gracefully aged.

After entertaining us for five long decades, Rishi Kapoor left the world. Coping with sadness is one thing for the family. But at such a time, it is equally difficult for the fans who made sure he stayed at the top of all charts, throughout. Amongst them, many new actors and artistes share their grief over this loss.

Watch him in Mulk here:

While Amitabh Bachchan broke the news via his tweet, Rajinikanth shared his emotions in a few words, “Heartbroken! Rest in peace my dear friend” Kamal Haasan also expressed, “Can’t believe it. Chintu Ji (Mr.Rishi Kapoor) was always ready with a smile. We had mutual love and respect. Will miss my friend. My heartfelt condolence to the family.”

Taapsee Pannu, who played his daughter in Mulk, wrote, “My most favourite picture with him. Worked with him twice n the kind of brash honest compliments this man gave, has never left my heart and mind. Even in his bullying, there was so much love that one couldn’t help enjoy listening to him. The most entertaining stories came from him. The only co-star of mine who could beat me in being ‘brutally’ honest. Sir humaari hat-trick reh gayi. I’m sure I will meet him somewhere n this hug shall be repeated with the same smile on our face.
