1. Prateik Babbar as a journalist Chandrashekhar

Upcoming sci-fi web series Skyfire marks the ZEE5’s foray into the genre. With digital dramas set in the crime, horror, thriller and slice-of-life space, the OTT platform offers a mixed bag of content for its viewers. The trailer of Skyfire was released a few days back and fans have been going gaga over the web series ever since!

Amongst the plethora of reasons why you should binge-watch the series, we bring you seven prime ones! Starting with Mulk actor Prateik Babbar who recently returned to the screens with some kickass roles under his belt. He will be seen as a journalist Chandrashekhar who is intrigued and baffled by the sudden changes in weather. Is his gut trying to hint at something more dangerous? Will he able to save the day?

2. Sonal Chauhan marks her digital debut

Jannat actress Sonal Chauhan recently clocked 11 years in the industry. Last seen in JP Dutta’s film Paltan, Sonal shall essay the role of a historian Meenakshi Pirzada in Skyfire. The Bollywood star went completely de-glam for her role and has drawn inspiration from her stay in Delhi for her character, she told us. It yet remains to be seen if she is able to contribute to avert a disaster as was shown in the trailer.

3. Tollywood superstar Jisshu Sengupta

Reigning star of the Bengali film and television industry Jisshu Sengupta is one of the lead actors of Skyfire. Albeit we have our theories if he portrays a positive or a negative character in the series, we are thrilled to watch his act in the ZEE5 web series nonetheless!

4. Based on Aroon Raman's book Skyfire

Skyfire is adapted from best-selling author Aroon Raman’s novel by the same name. The book is a bone-chilling account set in May 2012 India. The story revolves around absurd changes in the weather of the country which are unexplainable and beyond anyone. On the other hand, children begin to disappear from the slum areas but only a few seem to care. Rest assured, be prepared to have your heart skip a beat and jaws touch the floor!

5. An alarm to an apocalypse

Never before have we seen an Indian web series revolve around weather change. The trailer hints that a pralay (end of the world) is near. Of course, we have seen such a level of interpretation in Hollywood films only until now. But what is Skyfire exactly trying to tell us? Is this a conspiracy theory or a catastrophe for real?

6. Soumik Sen's direction

Soumik Sen enjoys a reputation for telling stories that need to be told but very few do. Having directed films like Why Cheat India and Gulaab Gang, it is only likely that we cannot wait to see what he offers in Skyfire.

7. The sci-fi genre

Never before has a web series been set in this space! Skyfire tackles and focuses on a string of subjects including weather conditions, conspiracy theories amongst others. The trailer also gives a whiff of sci-fi action. The series has been shot in Delhi, Dehradun, Kerala and Bhutan.

Is the end near? Or is this another trap we have been caught in? Skyfire premiers on ZEE5 on 22 May 2019. Join us in solving the mystery, it’s a date!

Don’t forget to add Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster film Simmba to your weekend binge, now streaming on ZEE5!
