And being a foodie that she is, she also indulged in fruit platters to add that one health factor to her daily routine. Wondering what fruits you should have to stay healthy and keep the doctor away? As the popular saying goes, an apple a day keeps the doctor away. The reason behind that is apples are extremely nutritious and have high amounts of fiber, Vitamin C and K and potassium. They also have antioxidants and are good for the heart. Apples also have pectin which is good for digestion and metabolism.

Among the healthiest citrus fruits, grapefruits are packed with vitamins and minerals and help in weight loss and reduce insulin resistance and cholesterol.

The commonly available chikoo is full of Vitamins A, C and E which nourish your skin. It also has antioxidants, making it a great fruit to have if you want to have clear, glowing skin naturally.

Another fruit loaded with Vitamin C, pineapple had anti-inflammatory properties thanks to its bromelain content. Bromelain supposedly helps fight cancer and tumour growth.

5. Strawberries

Delicious and nutritious, strawberries have Vitamin C, folate and potassium and a relatively low glycemic index. Being high in antioxidants, they help reduce chances of chronic diseases and control your blood sugar levels.

When life gives you lemons, eat them. That is because they are high in Vitamin C and are good for your heart. They help reduce blood lipids and blood pressure. They have citric acid which helps treat kidney stones as well.

The perfect summer fruits which can be had whole or converted into healthy juices. Watermelons have high amounts of Vitamins A and C and have antioxidants like lycopene and carotenoids, etc. So they keep your heart healthy by reducing cholesterol and blood pressure. It also has high water content and keeps you full longer – making it the perfect fruit to have when you are on a diet.
