State of Siege: 26/11 is inspired by the true events that took place on the fated day when the financial capital of the country was attacked by terrorists. Over the years, several films and books have drawn inspiration from the grim reality of 26/11. ZEE5 now brings forth another view of what happened during the 26/11 attack and how the siege saved the lives of many.

Starring Arjun Bajwa, Arjun Bijlani, Vivek Dahiya, Sid Makkar, Mukul Dev, Tara Alisha Berry, Khalida Jaan, Jyoti Gauba, Roshni Sahota, Suzanne Bernert, Naren Kumar and Jason Shah, the show is loosely an adaptation of author and journalist Sandeep Unnithan’s book, Black Tornade: The Three Sieges of Mumbai 26/11. The ZEE5 Original is sprawled across eight episodes and brings forth some unsaid accounts of the fateful day. We have compiled a few facts about the day that the makers will be explored in the show.

NSG 60 hour-long pursuit

During the 26/11 attack in Mumbai, the NSG conducted a 60-hour long siege without taking any break. Their pursuit to take down the 10 terrorists was successful in the morning of 29/11.

Commandos rescued over 100 civilians

NSG commandos collectively rescued 250 people from the Oberoi Hotel, 300 from the Taj and around 60 people from Nariman House. All the rescue operations took place along with taking down terrorists.

200 NSG commandos reached Mumbai from New Delhi

200 NSG commandos arrived from New Delhi to Mumbai and used a naval helicopter for an aerial survey.

NSG Commando Havildar Gajender Singh Bisht’s death

NSG Commando Havildar Gajender Singh Bisht engaged in a long battle with two terrorist perpetrators before dying in the line of duty. He did manage to kill the two perpetrators in the process.

Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan of the NSG killed

Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan also died in the line of duty as he tried to rescue Commando Sunil Yadav during the Taj rescue operation.

NSG commandos fast-roped from helicopters onto the Nariman House

NSG commandos were air-dropped from a Naval helicopter onto the Nariman House in the morning of November 27. The commandos which included rescuers and snipers took positions on the roof around Oberoi hotel.

9 attackers killed by 29 November morning

By the morning of November 29, 9 out of the 10 attackers were killed by the NSG while several hostages were freed.
