12 Bodies Of Covid19 Patients Piled Up In Vehicle For Cremation At Ahmednagar
A Shiv Sena Corporator witnessed 12 deceased corona patients being piled up into a vehicle for their cremation.
A Shiv Sena corporator captured some shocking images yesterday of deceased COVID19 patients, while visiting the Ahmednagar District Hospital in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.
Balasaheb Borate stated that he saw about 12 bodies of coronavirus patients being piled up into a hearse van, in a display of denying basic dignity to the dead.
When he took a closer look at the vehicle, there were bodies of eight men and four women. He also added that the van looked at least 12-15 years old and lacked standard and primary equipment.
Borate, who was in the hospital to check on a friend undergoing treatment for corona, saw the appalling sight and immediately sent the photos to the city’s municipal corporation authorities, as well as the district collector.
The job of picking up the dead bodies is reportedly outsourced to an external party and a notice has been sent to the agency, following this controversy.
Maharashtra has reported the highest number of infections in the country and stands at almost 5.5 lakh cases, with Ahmednagar at 580 cases currently. With hospitals in smaller towns and districts overwhelmed with the rising cases, it is important for their basic medical amenities to be in place.
