The news of Akshay Kumar reuniting with producer Ashwini Varde for taking further the ‘Oh My God’ franchise has left the fans excited. In January 2021, the makers had announced the sequel to their 2012 hit film Oh My God. And just a week ago, it was revealed that actor Pankaj Tripathi will be replacing Paresh Rawal in Oh My God 2. While this news had already got the fans super excited, the recent reports claim that actor Yami Gautam will join the OMG2 team as a female lead

As per the reports, Yami Gautam will be playing a pivotal role in the film alongside Pankaj Tripathi and Akshay Kumar. Oh My God 2 will have three key characters, however, the makers will revive the similar theme as that of the prequel, the report adds. “Yami Gautam will play the female lead in Oh My God 2, and she has a very crucial role in the story,” a source close to the film revealed.

“While the last part was all about the fight of a man with God, this time around, the makers have come up with a unique storyline that has three key roles to be played by Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam, and Akshay Kumar respectively,” the source added. Well, this is the first time Yami will be sharing screen space with Akshay.

This second installment of Oh My God will be helmed by Amit Rai who is known for directing ‘Road To Sangam’. And now with the main cast being “locked”, the makers are planning to begin the shoot in September. The production work of the film is already in full swing as the team is hunting for locations and sets in the town. Reportedly, the makers are aiming to wrap the film by October 2021.

For those unversed, the prequel was directed by Umesh Shukla. It was one of the major hits of 2012 and was well received by fans as well as critics.
