Women’s T20 Challenge: Smriti Mandhana-led team Trailblazers have emerged as the winners of the league

Smriti Mandhana had emerged as a force to be reckoned with during her appearances in India’s T20 batting line up and had also grown accustomed to watching the rest of her team fall after her performance. A similar scenario was witnessed by fans yesterday during the Women’s T20 Challenge final when Mandhana, the captain of Trailblazers ended up scoring 68 runs in 48 balls. However, after getting out in the 15th over, the batting line up had crumbled down and the team ended up going from 101 for 2 to 118 for 8 wickets by the end of the 20th over. With an arguably easy target to chase, the opponent, Supernovas, was ready to hit the ball out of the park and defeat Mandhana’s team, only to end up as the losers. Trailblazers have won their first-ever Women’s T20 Challenge and here’s what the Captain, Smriti Mandhana, had to say about the win and her team –

During her appearance at the post-match press conference, Trailblazers’ skipper Smriti Mandhana expressed that the team delivered an amazing performance and though they tried to make it to 130-140, the team lost its track. She expressed that the wicket was tough to bat on thus having a good spin attack became positive from the first ball itself.

The fun did not end there as the bowling side of Trailblazers ended up showing a phenomenal performance with Natthakan Chantham impressing the fans with her acrobatic fielding tricks. Whereas, she also took a catch in the cover region which brought her fielding efforts to brighter light. The captain herself praised Natthakan’s fielding efforts by saying that she has not seen anyone field in that manner.
