Manoj Bajpayee’s Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari is set to release in theatres this Diwali. This comedy film marks Bollywood’s first theatrical release in India after the coronavirus pandemic. Theatres all over the globe were forced to shut down due to the lockdown and streaming films and series online has become the new normal. Here’s what the star actor of the film, Manoj Bajpayee had to say about Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari.

In an interview with India TV, Manoj stated that due to the pandemic he was able to enjoy each passing day as it was, and not worry about what will happen 10 or 20 years down the line. Speaking about the appreciation he received on Basanti song, Manoj appealed his fans to visit the theatres and enjoy his upcoming film. Manoj quipped “to wear a mask and laugh” while watching the comedy film. Speaking about his role, Manoj further revealed that Mangal is a wedding detective in the film. His duty is to conduct background checks on the grooms and their characters. He also reveals that Mangal was an actor by profession, but gave up acting.

In the interview, Manoj stated that the character of Mangal is very unique and he has never done any role like this before. He said that he had a lot of fun entering Abhishek Sharma’s world as Mangal. Manoj spoke highly of the Indian talent and said that he observed and learned many things from the actors.

Directed by Abhishek Sharma, Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari is a comedy-drama film. The film is bagged by Shariq Patel and Subhash Chandra under the ZEE studios banner and Essel Vision Productions. Along with Manoj Bajpayee, the film also stars Diljit Dosanjh and Fatima Sana Shaikh in the lead roles. The rest of the cast includes Annu Kapoor, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Vijay Raaz, Seema Pahwa, Neeraj Sood, Manoj Pahwa, Neha Pendse and others. According to a news portal, the film is set for a theatrical release on November 15, 2020, becoming the first film to release in theatres post lockdown. The last film that screened on the big screen was veteran actor Irrfan Khan’s Angrezi Medium.
