Was Wasim Jaffer Compelled to Resign As The Coach Of The Uttarakhand State Cricket Team?
Jaffer chose to resign as coach after having worked there for almost a year due to the controversy. He reportedly said that he resigned because the CAU was including players into the team that did not deserve to be part of it.
Cricket might not be the national sport of India, but Indians are certainly crazy about it. For decades now, cricket has ruled over the hearts of citizens and brought people of all walks of life together to watch the glorious game of the gentlemen. But recently, this game witnessed some communal tensions in Uttarakhand. The coach of the Uttarakhand, Wasim Jaffer has been reported to be favouring the Muslim players in the selection of his team and this did not go down well with the Hindu players.
The tensions between the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU) and Wasim Jaffer have risen. The CAU officials have cited that Jaffer was biased, and created a communal atmosphere by selecting Muslim players. He allegedly even made players say a Muslim prayer before matches. The former Indian cricketer, Jaffer took to Twitter to clarify his stance on the issue.
1. I recommended Jay Bista for captaincy not Iqbal but CAU officials favoured Iqbal.
2. I did not invite Maulavis
3. I resigned cos bias of selectors-secretary for non-deserving players
4. Team used to say a chant of Sikh community, I suggested we can say “Go Uttarakhand” #Facts https://t.co/8vZSisrDDl
