If you have already started the series, I am sure a couple of characters may remind you of the cops from ZEE5 Original crime drama Police Diary 2.0. It is is an action-packed series that will unravel 52 heinous crimes reported in Tamil Nadu. Do the characters – Seelan, Nanda and Mugi – from Vettai not remind you of DSP Kathirvel, DSP Tamilselvan and Inspector Feroz respectively?
If not, let us tell you the similarities we see between them. Take a look!
Seelan & DSP Kathirvel
Seelan and DSP Kathirvel are very much similar; Both are quite calm and composed. They are very kind to their colleagues and never lose their temper. Speaking of favouritism, Seelan is Dayanithi’s favourite. And guess what? Kathir is also the most favourite cop of SP Vishwanath. Both are responsible and their thinking capabilities and physical strength are exceptional. They are observant, passionate and obedient to their work.
Seelan and Kathir are doing really well in their professional life. However, their personal lives are in shambles. While Kathir, who had a heartbreak after a girl, whom he met through a criminal case, dumped him; Seelan too has issues with his wife. Seelan, in fact, suspects that his wife is having an extra-marital affair with a guy named Mahesh.
Nanda & DSP Tamilselvan
Nanda (Vettai) and DSP Tamilselvan (Police Diary 2.0) are no-nonsense cops. They are all about their work and hardly have any time to have a conversation with their colleagues. They prefer staying alone rather than hanging out with a group of friends. Nanda and Tamil are not only short-tempered but are also impulsive by nature. Tamil goes by his intuition more than the law while Nanda is also observant and instinctive. However, when it comes to work, they both have a great record of solving the toughest cases.
Another most common thing among them is their sad past and it has impacted their present. Tamil, during an encounter with criminals, lost his wife, which led to him being affected by anxiety disorder and he is currently taking medication. This disorder and the pain of losing his wife has turned him into a loner.
Nanda, on the other hand, has a past too, which is not revealed yet but it surely has an impact on him as he too prefers to be alone. Nanda does not even want a life partner. He likes Radha but refuses to accept her love when she expresses it. In fact, he tells her that he has different goals from hers. So, he does not want to be distracted by falling in love with someone.
Mugi & Inspector Feroz
Mugi (Vettai) and Inspector Feroz (Police Diary 2.0) are single and have a bit of a playboy in them(but are harmless flirts). Both of them come across as ‘not-so-serious cops; a layperson might not even come to know whether they are cops or not. While Mugi carries a ‘do first, explain later’ attitude, Feroz’s working methods also seem to be eccentric. The two are extremely street smart and nothing can stop them from getting dirty in the streets to get their work done successfully.
Both are bullies; While Feroz is at loggerheads with his fellow junior officer Saakshi, Mugi too keeps picking on his junior Prakash. Feroz constantly irritates Sakshi as he can’t digest the fact that she likes Kathir. Not that he is interested in her, but he is just surprised by the fact that she won’t budge to him that easily. On the other hand, Mugi constantly bullies Prakash. Maybe it is his insecurity about being only a diploma holder while his junior (Prakash) is a graduate. So, Mugi gives Prakash a hard time at work.
