Varun Dhawan’s Ekkis To Go On The Floors This Year!
Varun Dhawan is all set to collaborate with Sriram Raghavan and Dinesh Vajan for an upcoming movie Ekkis. The movie is slated to start its shooting schedule this year.
Filmmaker Sriram Raghavan is all set to collaborate with Varun Dhawan for his upcoming movie Ekkis. The movie is based on the life of Param Vir Chakra recipient Arun Khetarpal martyred during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War. The movie has received a production timeline. Producer Dinesh Vijan said the Varun Dhawan-starrer will go on the floors by the end of the third quarter this year.
Varun Dhawan announced the movie in 2019. Taking to Twitter, the actor had written, “Happy birthday to Arun Khetarpal. It was always my dream to play a soldier of INDIA. Sriram Raghavan can’t wait to bring on screen the spectacular tale of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal. Produced by Dinesh Vijan. Hope to make you proud Mukesh Khetarpal and Poona Horse.”
However, Ekkis didn’t receive a production timeline due to the pandemic and country-wise lockdown. Ekkis is produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films. Vijan in an interview tagged Ekkis as one of their most ambitious projects. He added that Varun Dhawan had to undergo rigorous training for his role and the film should start at the end of the third quarter of 2021. Varun himself will commence prep for two and a half months for his role once he is done with Bhediya and other commitments.
Varun Dhawan was last seen in Coolie No.1 which was the directorial venture of David Dhawan. The film was released on December 25, 2020. Several actors like Sara Ali Khan, Shikha Talsania, and Sahil Vaid were a part of the cast of the movie. Varun Dhawan is currently working on several projects, he is currently working on his upcoming film Jug Jugg Jeeyo. The actor is also working on Bhediya for which he went to shoot in Arunachal Pradesh. Bhediya will also feature Kriti Sanon, Deepak Dobriyal, and Abhishek Banerjee in crucial roles. Bhediya is set to release on April 14, 2022.
