USA’s FDA Expert Panel Endorses Moderna’s Coronavirus Vaccine, Says Might Receive Emergency Usage Authorisation Soon
In the USA, the expert panel of the FDA might soon give an emergency usage authorisation to Moderna’s new COVID-19 vaccine.
The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has been troublesome for everyone across the world for several months now. Recently the coronavirus vaccine by the American multinational pharmaceutical corporation, Pfizer, received the approval for its emergency usage in the United States of America by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The latest update on another vaccine is that the FDA expert panel recently endorsed a coronavirus vaccine which was being developed by Moderna.

On Thursday, the vaccine advisers of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration met to discuss a second COVID-19 vaccine to be available in the American market. 20 people from the expert panel voted in favour of the Moderna coronavirus vaccine and none against. A nation that has been overwhelmed by the deadly infection of the virus now seems to be able to have some more hope as a second vaccine is in the process of being approved soon. The FDA is being expected to grant the Moderna vaccine an allowance of emergency usage in the U.S. market. The FDA has already telegraphed that a quick emergency use authorisation can be expected any time now and this time it could get through faster than that of Pfizer’s.

If Moderna’s vaccine receives the official approval, it would become the second one to be granted the emergency usage authorisation in the entire U.S. market after Pfizer. The country is said to have bought almost all of the available stock of the said vaccine. The Moderna vaccine is also said to be very similar to the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine. Both of them are being believed to use a new approach in their production and have genetic material known as mRNA in them. They are also known to have shown 95% efficacy in the prevention of the deadly disease and are being considered safe after trials on over tens of thousands of people in the country. The COVID-19 cases in the USA. are currently believed to have reached a mark of 17.3 million so the authorisation of Moderna’s new vaccine might be a huge piece of good news for the citizens of the country.
